Step into the vibrant world of biodiversity in the 2026–2027 FIRST LEGO League season, BIOGLOW™.

Throughout the season, teams will investigate real-world challenges affecting biodiversity and explore how science, technology and creative thinking can help protect the natural world. Students will work together to research problems, develop innovative solutions, design and code LEGO® robots, and share what they have learned with their communities.

​

The final season of FIRST LEGO League will offer two editions (event availability, format, and timing will vary by region):

​

  • BIOGLOW Founders Edition for FIRST® LEGO® League Explore (Grades 2-4) and Challenge (Grades 4-8), based on LEGO® Education SPIKE™ technology.

  • BIOGLOW Future Edition for FIRST® LEGO® League K-2 and 3-8, based on LEGO® Education Computer Science & AI hardware.

Enjoy season insights and inspiration from FIRST LEGO League Senior Program Director Kim Wierman and LEGO® Education Global Head of Brand Partnerships Camilla Bottke as they welcome teams around the world to the BIOGLOW™ season and introduce the exciting journey ahead.

You’ll also hear from 2026 Champion’s Award winners Team ROBOTECH as they reflect on their experience, share advice for the season and encourage teams to embrace creativity, teamwork and discovery throughout their BIOGLOW journey.

Dr. Vanessa Pirotta - Wildlife Scientist

Dr Vanessa Pirotta, a wildlife and whale scientist, takes us beneath the surface to explore how technology is helping protect marine life. From world-first waterproof drones that collect whale snot to research that tracks sharks, dolphins and whales across vast oceans, Vanessa shows how science, creativity and collaboration can uncover new insights—and help conserve biodiversity for future generations.

Season Questions: Ask our Head Referee and Judge Advisor

If you have a question about the Robot Game or judging for the current FIRST LEGO League season, you can submit it to our National Judge Advisor, Melinda Blake, or Head Referee, Fred Westling, using the forms below.

Answers will be returned to teams, and may be shared with all Australian teams. Please note that this is the only official platform for submitting Australian event-related Robot Game and judging questions.
